A fraternity at the University of Michigan came under fire after planning to throw a “World Star Hip Hop Presents: Hood Ratchet Thursday” party.

Which to Theta Xi was obviously a hilarious idea.

But enter the racially insensitive picture of a black man holding a wad of cash and saying things like “we goin back to da hood again…hood IDs will be checked,” and you have a problem.

Or take a look at the part of the invitation that detailed the November 7 bash that requested these types of people to attend:

“…bad bitches, white girls, basketball players, thugs and gangsters…”

And you’re left wondering how someone thought this parody of black culture and sexually offensive party was a good idea.

Students subsequently complained about the invitations and the university sent out an email on Thursday reprimanding the fraternity for the event.

“The language of the invitation and theme of the party denigrated all women and African American/black identified people through racial stereotypes and cultural appropriation,” the school’s Vice President for Student Affairs E. Royster Harper said in an email.

“This behavior is offensive, disrespectful and unacceptable at the University of Michigan. It is unhealthy and harms everyone in the community. It is in direct contradiction to the values, policies and expectations of the University and will not be tolerated.”

No shit.

In addition, the national fraternity headquarters have imposed social restrictions on Theta Xi pending a full investigation. They have yet to offer an apology. Not surprisingly.

Message to all…can we just NOT with the misogynistic behavior and negative stereotypes? I’m sure a party with beer and an iPod full of music would be just fine.
