The end of an era is upon us. Rapper Mac Miller has parted ways with independent label Rostrum Records, the only label Mac has ever called home.

Mac and Rostrum gave a joint statement to MTV about the decision. In it, Mac says:

“Rostrum is my family. That is forever…No matter what, we will always work together. We moved mountains and I can only see them continuing that tradition.”

Rostrum President Benjy Grinberg had nothing but nice words for Mac, saying:

“We are proud of the historic run that we had together and we will continue to support him in any way that is needed. We wish him nothing but the best in the future.”

Mac, who is very open on his social media accounts, didn’t have much to say about the split. This was his last tweet:

OK…

Mac was signed to the label for four years.

The highlight of their partnership came in 2011, when Blue Slide Park, Mac’s solo album, became the first independent debut to top the Billboard 200 since Tha Dogg Pound did it in 1995 with their classic Dogg Food album.
