Um… so last night was a little intense in the world of football.
Richard Sherman went just a little cray cray yesterday evening, delivering a WWE-style, post-game rant for the books after he sealed his team’s spot in Super Bowl XLVIII.
For a brief recap of the win:
In the climatic moment of the Seahawks’ 23-17 win in the NFC Championship Game, Sherman tipped away the San Francisco 49ers’ bid for a go-ahead touchdown with 22 seconds remaining. The pass thrown by 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick had been intended for wide receiver Michael Crabtree. It never reached him. Sherman deflected the ball and it was intercepted by Seahawks linebacker Michael Smith in the end zone.
The Seattle Seahawks’ All-Pro cornerback then went HAM when FOX’s Erin Andrews caught up with him after. Fired up about the win, Sherman went off when asked about the decisive play, shouting:
“Well, I’m the best corner in the game! When you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that’s the result you’re going to get. Don’t you ever talk about me.”
Asked by Andrews to identify who had been talking about him, Sherman continued:
“Crabtree! Don’t you open your mouth about the best, or I’ll shut it for you real quick. LOB!”
Bwahahaha gotta love the passion!
It seems as though there was a brewing beef between San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, Michael Crabtree and Sherman as reports say Crabtree attempted to start a fight with the Seattle Seahawks cornerback last summer.
The incident took place at an event hosted by Arizona Cardinals receiver, Larry Fitzgerald in August which was attended by both players.
SI reports:
Sherman has been upset with Crabtree since last summer. Both attended Arizona star receiver Larry Fitzgerald’s charity event. While there, Sherman went to shake Crabtree’s hand, and Crabtree tried to start a fight, according to Sherman’s older brother, Branton.
“I’m going to make a play and embarrass him,” Richard Sherman vowed that day.
