With the deadline date upon us to sign up for the Affordable Care Act, celebs have gotten involved to encourage young people to get insured. On Friday, New York rapper Juelz Santana led the pack by signing up for insurance during the #GetCovered Tour in Harlem.

U.S. Representative Charles Rangel, Juelz, Yandy Smith and many more traveled around New York to encourage people to sign up for health care. The tour ended in Harlem with the leaders speaking on the act’s importance. Juelz took initiative and signed up at the event, calling it an example for young people who are reluctant about health insurance.

“We put so much focus on being fly on the outside, that we forget to take care of what counts on the inside and that is our health,” said the Harlem-born rapper. “I’m not here today as an expert, but to sign-up for the Affordable Care Act and to let my story serve as motivation.”

The #GetCovered tour – led by community leaders Valeisha Butterfield Jones, Tamika Mallory and Brian Benjamin, along with Juelz Santana, reality stars Yandy Smith, Jennifer Williams, and more – gave tips to the community about registering for the Affordable Care Marketplace and other helpful steps on how to get covered.

For people who have signed up in the Marketplace but not chosen insurance, you have until April 7 to choose a plan. At least 6 million people have now signed up for health insurance and 3 million young people have gained insurance through the requirement that allows dependent children to remain on their parents’ insurance until the age of 26.
