Don Lemon is at it again.

The man who told the nation that black communities would succeed when they pulled up their pants, moved out of poverty-stricken neighborhoods they are forced into, and endorse the unconstitutional Stop & Frisk practice, has another message for black America.

It’s our fault for making Justin Bieber a racist.

Yep, that happened. In light of two videos released — one of the young pop star carelessly saying the n-word and another where he sings about becoming a member of the KKK — Lemon had this to say in an article posted to Black America Web:

Some are saying Bieber is a racist. Is he? I don’t know. But I do know that this is the danger of the proliferation of the use of the n-word. People hear it in music. They hear it on the street. They hear it almost everywhere and they subliminally become immune. Very frequently I hear young people of all ages, in public, who can barely get through a sentence without using the word; even calling each other n-words — of all different ethnicities.

Clearly Justin Bieber, a young man who by the way, has immersed himself in black, Hip Hop culture should not be saying the n-word. So the question is, if you want people like Justin Bieber to stop using it and to stop making excuses for using it, shouldn’t you do the same?

Here’s a tip, Lemon. Before you go demonizing your own people, yet again, please remember that the n-word was not invented nor originally perpetuated by black people. And while the debate surrounding the reclamation of the word remains, note that Bieber wasn’t using the word endearingly or even, as many want to point out, in the context of hip-hop.

A white boy singing about killing “a lonely nigger” cannot and will not be the fault of a marginalized community. And that racism was never ours to fix, either.
