Guardians of the Galaxy – starring Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana – ruled at the box office this weekend, coming in at number one and raking in over $94 million. Disney’s Dave Hollis revealed:
“If you introduce something as unique and original as this is, people go see it early and tell everyone how much they have to see it. It can provide a real quick kickstart to the box office.”
Get On Up, the James Brown biopic, took third place with $14 million.
Lionsgate has released the third and final trailer to the upcoming and highly anticipated sequel The Expendables 3. In the film, which stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, and Mel Gibson, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team come face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney.

The trailer for Addicted has also been released. In the film, starring Sharon Leal and Boris Kodjoe, successful businesswoman Zoe Reynard (Sharon Leal) appears to have attained it all — the dream husband she loves (Boris Kodjoe), two wonderful children, and a flourishing career. As perfect as everything appears from the outside, Zoe is still drawn to temptations she cannot escape or resist.
