Tisha Campbell-Martin is most recognized for her role as Gina on the hit television series Martin but her life’s work stretches far beyond any TV show, as she’s had to deal with a number of difficult circumstances from a very young age.

A couple of years ago, the world learned the 45-year-old actress suffers from a lung disease called sarcoidosis, but most recently she revealed that’s not the only life-changing circumstance she’s been through. While appearing on The Daily Helpline recently, Tisha made her best attempt at helping a young woman who’d been sexually assaulted and in the process, she told the world she was also raped… at 3-years-old.

Tisha told the young woman:

“You can no longer be a victim, you have to be victorious at this point. You can’t play the victim because at this point — I’m not saying this to put you down or anything — what I’m saying is that he is winning, and you’re allowing him to win. You’re making a conscious decision to harm yourself to hurt yourself and allow this person to still have dominion over your life. You can’t do that anymore.”

After dropping that gem, she continued:

“The reason why I can absolutely say this to you without judgement or anything else and this is the first time I ever said this on camera in front of millions national people is that I too have been a victim of the same thing. When I was three I was raped, by an older person. Now I knew as a child that I did nothing wrong and that this wasn’t my fault, but I had found forgiveness in the guilt that I might’ve had. I felt like, ‘Did I pull this in? Did I do something at three-years-old?’ No. It’s a heinous crime.”

Tisha has been in the business for over 20 years, and left the fan-favorite show Martin in 1997, when she sued actor and comedian Martin Lawrence for sexual harassment, verbal abuse, battery, and other threats. Check out the clip above.

We love you, Tisha.
