Lil Durk, the Chicago rapper who just months ago pled guilty to gun charges, is back in court Thursday after he was charged with a weapons violation.

Durk, real name Durk Banks, was arrested Wednesday after Chicago police went to his home in Orland Hills while investigating a homicide.

According to the arrest report obtained by the Chicago Tribune, a woman answered the door and let them in. That’s when officers saw Durk standing in the living room. Two guns were in plain sight on a nearby kitchen island.

“I got those pipes (guns) ’cause (expletive) always be tryin’ to take my bands (money),” Banks said, according to the police report.

Police seized a Glock .45-caliber handgun with a magazine and 11 live rounds and a Springfield .45-caliber handgun with a magazine and 13 live rounds, the police report said. It was not clear if there were rounds in the chambers of the guns.

The officers knew Banks was a convicted felon and placed him under arrest, the report said.  He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, and was expected to appear in bond court Thursday.

Durk’s attorney is telling a different story.

“He’s upset, of course,’’ said his attorney, Sam Adam Jr. “We feel very confident that he did not possess a gun.’’

Adam could not confirm any of the details of the police report and insisted, “No gun was ever in the possession of Mr. Banks. At all.”

“I am trying to investigate what exactly happened,’’ he added.

“The key word is I’ll be staying out of trouble,” Banks told the Tribune after the hearing. “You can put a capital ‘N’ — for never.”

So much for that declaration. We’ll keep you updated with the latest in Durk’s case.
