Ku Klux Klan organizer John Abarr’s plans to rebrand the organization isn’t meshing well with Klan members in Missouri.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Hayes, a “Grand Wizard” in St. Louis said he’s prepared to launch an attack on Ferguson protestors as the days narrow down to a decision on whether the grand jury plans to indict Officer Darren Wilson for killing teen Michael Brown.

Traditionalist American Knight of the KKK, Frank Ancona, has taken to social media to issue threats towards Ferguson protestors, Raw Story reports. His flyer reads, “We will use lethal force as provided under Missouri law to defend ourselves.” They also call the protestors “terrorists.”

“It kind of came about from hundreds of calls we’ve been getting from residents in St. Louis County concerned with things that they’ve seen on social media,” Ancona explained. “Random attacks on whites, D.C. sniper-style shootings, police officers being threatened that their wives are gonna be raped, and that they’re all targets.”

It was previously reported that Ferguson Mayor James Knowles told the media that police and government officials are “preparing for the worst” if the grand jury’s outcome isn’t in the public’s favor. Officials have since regretted the choice of words, and claim they’ve been working closely with some of the Ferguson protestors to ensure peace. Ancona, however, is telling a different story.

The Grand Wizard tells Hayes he’s talked with police about their frustrations over the Ferguson protestors. When asked again by Hayes, Ancona retracted his statements.

“A lot of them are very frustrated with how the governor has sided with the criminals in a lot of instances,” Ancona said.

“Wait a second,” Hayes said, interjecting. “You have law enforcement talking to you off the record, confiding in you as a Grand Wizard of the KKK? You’re telling me that you have local law enforcement talking to you, personally, off the record?”

“I’m telling you, I have friends who know people in law enforcement,” Ancona replied, backtracking. “Let’s just put it that way.”

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson was brought on later during the segment and didn’t show much reaction to Ancona’s statements.

“The first guest didn’t help the conversation and the dialogue at all that’s going on in St. Louis,” Dotson told Hayes, only alluding to Ancona’s appearance.

He also responded indirectly to Brown, saying reports indicating that police had spent thousands of dollars on “cluster grenades” and other equipment were being taken out of context.

“To characterize it as an offense is not correct at all,” he said. “Really what it is is the tools that we have to keep us all safe in our community.
