Surprise snowfall hit the upstate New York area this week as temperatures dropped to freezing and below freezing all around the country. Residents in Buffalo were hit with six feet of snow with two feet to be expected on Thursday. Five deaths were reported in New York, three of them heart attacks. Two other deaths were reported in New Hampshire and Michigan.  [NY Times]

A man tried his luck on Craigslist this week when he posted a Missed Connection ad for the woman who delivered his wife’s baby. His post reads, “This is probably a long shot but you were the nurse taking care of my wife while she was having our baby. I enjoyed our eye contact and would really like to talk to you more. Maybe tomorrow I will be there most of the day and I will bump in to you in the hall way or see you at the nurse station.” We’re hoping he will be served with divorce papers instead of a love connection. [Gawker]

The reason behind staggering low voter turnout in this year’s midterm elections has been connected to the many Voter ID laws imposed around the country. Democrats are more than certain the laws effected the turnout, but voter experts are claiming it’s too soon to tell. The national trend wasn’t the case for all states as 14 states including Florida, Kansas, North Carolina, and Iowa had the biggest voter turnouts in recent years. Check out the full report here. A NY woman who fell dead in a Brooklyn hair salon and who recently traveled to Guinea, has tested negative for the deadly Ebola virus. The woman’s name hasn’t been released but officials claim she died from a heart attack. A hazmat team responded to the 911 call where she was pronounced dead at the scene. [New York Times
