American Apparel is under fire – again.

This time, the controversial brand is facing backlash over a leaked casting call that made its rounds on the internet. The email, reportedly sent from modeling agency PhotoGenics, left many shocked by its offensive choice of words.

“Company is going through a rebranding image so will be shooting models moving forward. Real models. Not Instagram hoes or thots.”

The email was sent by Phira Luon, the agency director for PhotoGenics, and he has taken full responsibility:

“The comment made at the end was made in jest with models whom I have a personal relationship with and did not reflect the views, or directives by the client. I apologize to all those who were offended or affected by my comments, as it was not my intention.”

While AA is known to include models of all shapes and sizes, we’re not sure what to think of their “new direction” now.
