On November 29, 2012, Brelo was involved in a 22-minute police pursuit that ended in the parking lot of a middle school in East Cleveland. When it was over, Brelo had fired 49 gunshots into a blue 1979 Chevy Malibu occupied by Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams.

In all, 13 police officers fired 137 shots. Once other officers stopped shooting, Brelo jumped on the hood of the car and fired the last 15 shots.
