Last night I had the opportunity to attend the extremely talented Cee Lo Green‘s album release and listening party for his latest album, The Lady Killer. The event was hosted at the luxurious W Hotel New York in midtown Manhattan. The sexy event attracted a very eclectic crowd ranging from fashionistas, music industry insiders and some very trendy and fashionable fans. Complete with open bar and a sultry ambiance, this was not your average listening party as Cee Lo actually performed his entire album for the pleasantly surprised attendees.

Cee Lo took to the stage clad in an all-white suit accessorized with a black and white striped tie while draped in a dashiki, which he removed halfway through his performance. His soulful voice accented by the catchy melodies and rhythms played by an all woman band, dressed in full leather outfits, mesmerized the crowd. Behind him was a gigantic L.E.D. backdrop that displayed psychedelic animated patterns that changed with the beat. One of the impressive things about his set is that though he had a full band playing for him the presence of background singers was absent and he was able to carry all of the tunes with his voice alone.

After watching Cee Lo perform I must admit that he is an awesome performer and the songs on the album sound spectacular. Every record elevated the already highly sustained energy levels of the crowd; however, the audience went extra crazy when he performed his two singles, Bright Lights Bigger City and F*ck You. My personal favorites on the album were a ballad, with that old Motown feel, called Old Fashioned and a more uptempo record titled Satisfied.
The album is definitely crazy so be sure to go out and cop The Lady Killer, if you haven’t done so already. It’s currently in stores across the country and is available for purchase from iTunes.
