Imagine an extravagant evening at a star studded event in the heart of New York City.  Now imagine this event showcasing the latest designs in high fashion lingerie and also managing to take a huge step in empowering women throughout the world.

This was exactly what was accomplished last night at the LINGERIE New York 2010 fashion show and gala at Cipriani 42nd Street. This spectacular event was sponsored by Freedom Bay St. Lucia and Hennessy Black along with others and was held in support of the Seven Bar Foundation, a charity dedicated to funding microfinance projects that help women around the world escape poverty through entrepreneurship.

Many major movers and shakers on the New York fashion and business scenes were in attendance along with Russell SimmonsVeronica Webb, the cast of The Real Housewives of New York and other celebrities.

The evening’s festivities included two fashion showcases and a highflying acrobatic ribbon performance.  Featured designers were world renowned lingerie designer Carine Gilson, who was celebrating her 20th anniversary in the field, and Japanese designer Atsuko Kudo.  Music was spun by Sophia Rodriguez, who held it down on the ones and twos.

The event also marked super model Veronica Webb‘s historic return to the runway after a five-year hiatus.  She wore a fabulously styled Hennessy Black ‘Light Goddess’ Corset, which was designed by extremely talented up-and-coming fashion designer Dara Young
