For those who aren’t familiar with Aloe Blacc, give yourself a little more credit. The Los Angeles singer/rapper is responsible for one of the best theme songs on television, ‘I Need A Dollar’ (video below) from HBO’s dramedy, How To Make It In America. In anticipation of his upcoming album, Good Things (Stones Throw Records), Blacc has leaked the follow up single (‘I Need A Dollar’ doubled as the first single from Good Things) with ‘Femme Fatale.’
The track is a remake of the Velvet Underground original of the same name. With Motown-esque guitars and a gritty vintage sound, Blacc hearkens back to the days when older folks say music had some soul. Now the youngsters of today can say the same, and when someone asks what they mean, they can point to this record right here.
