I’m Britto – you may recognize me from cycle 14 of America’s Next Top Model or as Tyra Bank’s Last Call Top Model pick. Also, you might have also seen me on one of your guy friend’s dorm walls as Miss October for the ACC Calendar for CampusGirlsUSA. I’m one of GG’s newest bloggers and I’m here to give you the scoop on my fabulous life!! 🙂
Here on Model Diaries, you’ll get the inside scoop as I balance my blossoming modeling career and my life as a normal college student. I’ll take you along with me on my photo shoots and modeling experiences. I’ll let you in on my personal and very hectic college life, while also sharing with you modeling tips that I’ve learned and random tidbits about my personal fashion and music favorites. A little bit about me? I’m your average girl next door but with a little more edge and flair, born in New England (GO PATS!), but raised a traveler! I spent all my high school years overseas in Asia and Africa, traveling to places like India, Australia, Hong Kong, and Morocco, experiencing just a little bit of what the world has to offer. Did I mention I was a proud mix of Cape Verdean and Creole? 😉 Shoutout to my Kriolos!

As for modeling, I’ve been modeling on and off since I was about two years old. I was featured in numerous catalogs and on toy boxes (you can even find me on the back of Mickey Mouse Yatzee! lol). During high school, I mainly focused on my studies but got a more professional start on my modeling in Hong Kong during my senior year right before I came to college. Now I’m attending University of Maryland, College Park and I’m having the time of my life! Balancing my education with my dreams and future aspirations can sometimes be difficult, but hey, I gotta do what I gotta do in order to make it to the top.
I’ve been working with photographers in DMV area, participating in fashion shows including DC fashion week. Freshman year, I modeled for CampusGirlsUSA’s swimsuit calendar. I had a BLAST on my trip in the Bahamas, and met some life long friends. Speaking of making it “to the TOP” ;), my pictures were picked personally by Tyra Banks in an online photo competition for her website “Last Call” and I was sent to LA to tryout.

Results: I made it to the semifinals of America’s Next Top Model! Exciting! 🙂 Unfortunately, as a semifinalist, I was hit with the big “DECLINE” after the first round :(, but I don’t regret a thing. I had a blast meeting Tyra and the Jays (they’re all fabulous!) and met some other amazing girls. Plus, there’s always next cycle 😉 right?
