Kinga Burza does it again, after making a hit with Katy Perry’s ‘I Kissed a Girl’ making her a pop cult queen, Marina and the Diamonds also hops on this express train to bubblegum royalty.  Her new music video ‘Oh No’ is almost like a bursting bag of skittles with her girly melodies sung by her cotton candy voice. ‘Oh No’ a single from her album Family Jewels will be the UK equivalent of California Gurls.

The music video is afloat on pastel clouds of 90’s fantasy as Roy Lichenstein-esque pouty lips and ‘bling’ signs punctuate her repetitive yet catchy verses. She’s got a ‘one track mind, a one track heart. if I fall, I’ll fall apart.’  Her lyrics are oddly cohesive in the pop dialect and perfect for singing in the bathroom with a hair-dryer microphone while dancing around in a tutu.

‘I know exactly what I want to do’, she says while she seems to be doing exactly what pop culture wants her to do wearing a sausage-casing-tight tube dress with a dollar bill printed on while being showered with cash.  It really makes us say ‘Oh No’, and we certainly hope this is a cautionary tale of a cash and product centered around market culture.  We can only hope to be as important enough to have speech bubbles articulating our digital thoughts with our faces plastered on cereal boxes while watching this 3 minute rendition of uber-popdom.
