Melanie Fiona was honored in New York at the ASCAP Presents Women Behind the Music sponsored by Belvedere and Rocawear, last week in front of an amazing crowd of Tastemakers and powerfu women in music. I caught up with The It’s Kills Me singer and asked her about being honored by Ascap to which she said ‘Its really cool because i still feel like i’m a new artist and I’m still growing as a song writer.’ Adding hopefully ‘it means great things for me in the future.’

Melanie in our opinion you’ve already accomplished great things. Later on after the ceremony Melanie Fiona performed A’Yo and she also explained how that song changed her life. The ‘song that changed my life and really made my dreams and everything that I was working towards possible. A’ Yo, it’s really my most inspirational record. I hope people are inspired by the whole evening being a tribute to women in music.’

Melanie Fiona is a true inspiration. Ascap provided a wonderful night filled with good folks, good music and great drinks provided by Belvedere Pink Grapefruit
