I am never amazed by what kids say. Sometimes they make things so clear. Their view of the world is so small, but so simple. Their minds haven’t been taught about things like hate, bigotry, race, religion, gay or straight, rich or poor. Their innocence is simple and pure, we might laugh and say ‘Kid say the darndest things’ but really at times, they saw the most honest things.

Politicians and political pundits alike can learn a thing or two from honest adolescents.  An issue that will always make headlines is the current debate on health care reform.  An issue that continues to spark debate and make people go crazy, but when it comes to children it’s so simple. Here is an example of a young man being honest and truthful to something that has changed his life forever.

Young Marcelas Owens is an 11-year-old boy from Seattle who wants the President and Congress to come together and pass health insurance reform. Owens started his crusade because his mother was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension in 2006. She missed so much work on account of her condition that she lost her job and when she lost her job she lost her health care with it. With no health benefits Marcelas’ mother condition worsened and she eventually lost her life.

Let’s join Marcelas in his fight for those who can’t afford health care and those who don’t have health care.

This is our generation at its best.

His innocence is honest and sweet, his view is so simple, he wants to change something people debate on every day. Let’s join his fight and share his message.
