So to say I’m excited about resurfacing on the music scene is an understatement. I feel so blessed to have another chance at this opportunity. But what is it all for? Is it for the sake of fame and fortune? I had someone ask me why I wanted to do this again.

With all the politics, stress, & potential shadiness this industry brings, why not live a ‘happy, normal life?’ Well to be perfectly honest my happy, normal is music. My passion for singing is endless.

And I know there are so many ways to be vocally expressive. But for me it’s being in this business simply because God blessed me with the ability to do it before and now I feel, no, I KNOW I’m being blessed to do it again!

When I really think about it though, what is the point of doing this? It’s definitely beyond being famous or a big celebrity. I’ve been singing all my life, so I realize it’s more to it than that.

I want to be an inspiration to young women who don’t believe they can be successful because of the way they look. Often times society & images seen on tv, or more so what’s not seen, a lack of variety in the presentation of women, brings a certain level of insecurity and uncertainty to today’s youth, especially girls of color.

And with everything being so image driven girls try so hard to be sexy because it seems to be the industry & the media’s focal point. It’s unfortunate, but in most cases, there’s such a double standard in this industry when it comes to image. They say ‘sex sells’ and the sad reality is it does!

Therefore, female artist are expected to have uber sex appeal while men artists can be ‘big boned’, have a jacked up grille, with two left feet and they’re record sales will still be through the roof! (& no I’m NOT talking about anyone specific…

I’m jus sayin) But the female artist MUST ooze sexiness to push units or her ‘ish BETTA be undeniably hot & catchy! Why is this? Why can’t it just be about real talent anymore? Why does sex sell? I can go on & on about these issues and question why this and why that, but it’s pointless. Instead I want to lead by example.

I want to be an example & show young girls and women all over the world it doesn’t matter how dark your skin is, how full your lips are, or how curvy your hips are – you are sexy! Allow your talent to speak volumes and KNOW who you are. And enable your sexy to shine from within!! There was a time when I allowed people’s opinions to get next to me. I had to know who I was and be proud of it. We have to love ourselves and attain inner peace to be free from judgement controlling who we are.

Completely escaping judgment is unrealistic, but exuding confidence & embodying self assurance is even more attractive, which is my definition of selling sex! It’s about being naturally sexy, having an organic sex appeal! This is when your sex sells & your sexy glows!!

So back to the question at hand…why does sex sell? I’m sure many of us like to feel sexy, but how far will we go? Is it risque’ clothing, or gyrating for attention that gives us ladies the sex appeal this industry deems necessary? How provocative must one be?

Despite the fact t
