M.I.A continues her feud with NY Times journalist Lynn Hirschberg on the newly released track ‘Haters.’ M.I.A’s conflict with Hirschberg stems from a profile and interview published in the NY Times Magazine which the singer feels was unfair. The Sri-Lankan singer posted Hirschberg’s phone number on her twitter account as retaliation from the piece.
M.I.A continues the conflict with this track after further remarks were made by Hirschberg. This seems to be a controversial comeback for M.I.A., with her latest video from her anticipated album ///Y/ sparking a lot of controversy and ultimately getting banned from Youtube. The video entitled ‘Born Free’ featured graphic violence and nudity and like most of M.I.A’s content, it represented the conflicts in her hometown of Sri Lanka.
