As Big Boi prepares for the release of his first solo album debut Sir Luscious Left Foot: Son of Chico Dusty we can remember all the footsteps he took to become the icon he is today. Outkast consists of Andre 3000 Benjamin & Antwan Big Boi Patton. Outkast has been a staple in music sound from the day I really remember knowing what rap or hip hop music was in Atlanta. When you are younger you get a sense that your city equates to family because you always do your best to represent for the city’s finest. In Atlanta there were a lot of teenagers making music, not only making music but they were in the limelight. We are talking about Kris Kross, OutKast, Kilo Ali, around that time we even were on the 69 Boyz.
Oukast stood out among all because of their different sound, sounding so different it actually sounded better that way. This is coming from someone who was born in 1986, so when it 1992 I was 6 playing in the rec parks, starting school, and seeing Atlanta for what it was. Anyone who knows my musical insite knows that I say ‘Listening to Outkast and Goodie Mob made us smarter than you.’ The music group’s lyrics talked about issues that made people who they are and to love where you come from when you are coming up in this cold world. There album artwork and fashion sense made them both stand out as individuals in the same group… the best one two punch that rap music will ever see. Their unique abilty to capture that ATL feel and put it into music so well made them loved all around the world.
