On April 22, 2010 I recieved two tickets to view a concert at the Highline Ballroom where artists Omarion and The Dream would be performing with singer/reggae artist Gyptian as their special guest.  Even though my brithday was a week later, I considered this one of the best birthday presents a girl could ever receive. Now before I get into any more details about my one night stand with Omarion, let me just state for the record that I am his biggest fan of all time! No, you won’t see any posters or pictures of him in my room, BUT I literally stood outide the the Queens Center Mall when I was 15/16 years old at 6 in the morning (mind you the mall opens at 9 am!) just so he can personally sign my cd.

So, back to the story. I invited my close friend as my ‘plus one’ to come with me and enjoy this once and a lifetime experience. We found parking a block away from the Highline Ballroom and made our way to the theatre. Because I work for Global Grind, the best website ever, I walked past all those that stood in line and made my way to the special section for those that were on the guest list. There my friend and I waited to go in. We took some pictures for radio station Power 105.1 as we waited.

In the waiting area, I saw a friend that works within  the music industry and she gave me the 411 on who to be expecting on stage. She claimed that Fabolous was in the building and would make an appearance with The Dream. I was super excited I must admit, but my loyalty of excitement of course was for Omarion. You see I am a big R&B and reggae head, so to have Omarion and Gyptian was good enough! Upon entering the Highline Ballroom, I saw exactly what was expected. The theatre has a very old fashion, classy, timeless, mardigras, antique feel to it.

Once through the doors, my friend and I made our way to the front of the stage by the VIP area, to hold our spot. The VIP area was visited by celebrities like Ne-yo, Teyana Taylor, and Adrianne Bailon (if you consider her to be one).Of course we thought that we were going to get squished in from behind as more people filled in the space, but thankfully there was enough space for the whole audience to be comortable and enjoy good music for the rest of the night.

After the hype man riled up the crowd, he introduced The Dream. Now, before The Dream came out to perform, his team of about 5 to 6 dancers came out and performed a short routine. Then, when he came out and was peforming his songs like ‘L.O.V.E. King’ etc. the dancers performed as well. Don’t get me wrong, he performed very well and sounds great live (all the artists did) I could not take my eyes off those dancers. Maybe my background dance training didn’t help me keep my attention on The Dream but OMG- those girls were amazing! Plus, The Dream had on this wierd shoulder padded blazer with spikes comming out of it that I didnt really fancy.
