Pepsi has created a program known as the Pepsi Refresh Project where any person who has an idea that they believe can benefit a community in any sort of way has the opportunity to win a grant to help fund their idea.

From providing a “fresh start” baby care package to expectant parents in need, to shipping Girl Scout cookies to troops overseas, to a 14-year-old boy’s invention that retrofits school buses, the Project has awarded grants based on public vote to 129 individuals and organizations thus far.

In 2010, Pepsi is giving away $20 million in the U.S. to fund good ideas, big and small, that move communities forward. Pepsi is giving out $1.3 million in grants each month, which range from $5,000 to $250,000, and every month there will be new ideas that Pepsi Refresh grants will be awarded to in one of six categories. The categories are health, arts & culture, food & shelter, the planet, neighborhoods and education.
