Good Saturday Morning World!

It’s your weekly safety net for the hottest leaks and downloads in music that hit the net, airwaves and clubs this week.

First off Nicki Minajs “Tragedy” is insane. Never before in the history of hip-hop music has a snippet created so much buzz. Yet when “Tragedy” leaked last week, it created more pre-fight hype than a Mayweather vs, Pacquiao press conference. It’s a 47 second 16 bar jab right at Lil Kim. This Hit-Boy track is like ring entrance music at any prize fight. Nothing subliminal here. Nicki gets straight to the meal and throws a ‘hay maker’ right at the Queen Bee. Ahh yes, the drama is being set up for a heavyweight main event at this year’s Hot97 Summer Jam 2K11. Let’s just keep it nasty and down right dirty ladies.

Next up, Pharrell‘s “The Game Has Changed” freestyle is must hear music. When N.E.R.D.’s talented front man Pharrell does anything, from fashion to music, it’s most definitely always fresher than most. He has a Sammy Davis sorta vibe when he gets on any track and this is no different. What is different is he didn’t produce the track, rather it’s a Daft Punk beat from the movie “Tron.” His wordplay on this though, like Rembrandt. “The Game Has Changed” set the blogisphere and mixshow radio on fire this past week. Funkmaster Flex dropped more bombs on this track then a NATO air strike. The futuristic Tron-like logo Pharrell unveiled for the song is marketing genius. Peep…

Mac Miller teamed up with DC’s own Wale on this Don Cannon produced banger “So What.” This is ride out music for sure. Most tracks the homie Don Cannon orchestrates are nothing short of a masterpiece. So who is this Brad Pitt looking kid with the Tom Cruise like flow? Seriously though, Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa are like “The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh” (Google this classic movie). Yezzur! Rothelisburger ain’t the only thing that wins in The Burgh these days. Mac has made a name for himself and the 16 he delivers on this track “So What” is the reason why. Like Salt with Pepper, Wale is the extra ‘flava’ on this tasty track.

It seems like more and more producers are jumping in the booth and Tennessee’s Drumma Boy is no different. He leaked a track this week, “Round Me,” that outside of himself and features Young Buck, 8Ball and MJG. Not enough has been said about the hip-hop scene from The Volunteer State and its impact on music. The movie “Hustle n Flow” romanticized it to the extreme. Drumma Boy is the perfect example of it’s diversity. “Round Me “has that dope Appalachia groove that TN hip hop is known for. But it’s that Memphis and Nashville connect coming together on this track that make this classic.

Finally some new Curren$y ish, “Ventilation.” Producer Alchemist is back on his A game heavy and this track is just another example. If you know the kid Curren$y, then you know he is another ambassador out of the modern day hip-hop hippie scene. Smoke Dza, Wiz, Big K.R.I.T., Curren$y; these are just a few names from this modern day ‘Grass Movement’. This song requires a dutch or a fanta leaf to be twisted to really achieve the maximum effect. Or just prepare to zone out and listen…
Until we read again…
