Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.

For the past few months, the internet participated in a poll to select their favorite Cosby Sweater, and the people have spoken.

Voters from around the world watched closely as the tournament sifted through 131 sweaters in five rounds, starting with the “Crew 32,” to the “Sweat 16,” the “Fleecy 8,” the “Warmest 4,” and finally, the “Champion Stitch.’

Two hundred episodes of the iconic Cosby Show and a bunch of sweaters later, it is Dr. Huxtable’s jogging sweater that has been crowned as the one a stitch above the rest.

In a video announcing the “Champion Stitch,” Bill Cosby explains why he opted for his character to wear funky sweaters rather than boasting fancy clothes as we’d expect to see on a doctor: to make him more relatable for viewers.

Instead of the jacket and the tie and the professional look of a highly educated person, who knows more than many of us, [he] put a sweater on- comfort, and he’s comfortable, and it makes you feel comfortable.

See what else Bill has to say about the competition in the video below.
