Things may be looking up for Amanda Bynes soon… at least according to her lawyer.

The actress, who is currently in a psychiatric hospital in California, didn’t attend a recent court meeting in Manhattan, but her attorney was on deck and handling business. The team is hopeful the charges against the troubled starlet could potentially be dropped.

Huffington Post reports:

The New York judge on Thursday said Bynes didn’t need a separate mental health hearing. Her attorney, Gerald Shargel, said she remained hospitalized and wished her a speedy recovery. He said he’s working with prosecutors to resolve the case. That could mean charges would be dropped if she agrees to stay out of trouble.

In case you forgot, the chick who proclaimed she wanted Drake to “murder her vagina” was charged earlier this year with reckless endangerment and marijuana possession after building managers called the cops because they said she was smoking pot in the lobby of her NYC apartment. After the po-po entered her 36th floor apartment, they said they saw her heave a bong out the window.

In related news, Amanda’s mom just dropped her bid to get a permanent conservatorship over her daughter.

TMZ reports:

Amanda’s mom was slated to go to court Monday to make the temporary conservatorship permanent.  But here’s the deal.  Amanda is currently on an LPS hold — translation, doctors have a tighter rein on Amanda than her mother would have with a conservatorship.

But there is a twist! Apparently doctors have given Bynes’ mother the power to make all medical and financial decisions for her daughter.

Sadly, the site also reports that Amanda’s mental condition has not improved.

Hopefully Amanda can work her way out of this one and make a speedy recovery.
