Adrian Peterson took to Twitter to send his appreciation to family, friends and fans during this difficult time.

News Breaker is reporting that the 2-year-old son of Adrian Peterson has died from injuries following an alleged assault by his mother’s boyfriend.

It’s being reported the child who passed is not Adrian Peterson Jr., but a child he had with a woman from a previous and brief relationship. He reportedly only recently learned that he was the father of the child.

According to TMZ, the injured child is Adrian Peterson’s son, but sources are saying that it is NOT Adrian Peterson Jr., seen below in the photo gallery.

However, the Minneapolis City Pages reported that the hospitalized child may not be Peterson’s son.

Peterson’s representatives have yet to confirm which of these disputes is true. We’ll keep you updated on the latest.

The 2-year-old son of NFL star Adrian Peterson is in critical condition at a South Dakota hospital following an alleged beating by the man dating the toddler’s mother.

The Minnesota Vikings running back has left his team to be with his son. According to TMZ:

Officials tell us they’ve arrested the suspect, 27-year-old Joseph Patterson … who’s been charged with aggravated felony assault and battery of an infant.

According to law enforcement, emergency responders arrived to the apartment where Peterson’s son was living at 5:46 PM on Wednesday … and found the child unresponsive.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital and medical experts determined the injuries were consistent with abuse.

Law enforcement confirmed that the child suffered severe head injuries. We’re praying for a speedy recovery and for justice to be served in this tragic case.
