Hova’s in hot water with Major League Baseball.

Jay Z hasn’t been a sports agent for a year, and already the MLB is looking into his conduct. The Magna Carta Holy Grail rapper gave his own Roc Nation Sports client Robinson Cano a limited edition Shawn Carter Classic Fusion watch by Hublot, worth about $34,000, to the baller for his birthday.

The Yankee slugger showed the watch off on his Instagram saying, “Thanks to the ROC NATION my birthday gift.” Adding, “#2/100 made # Shawn Carter limited edition.”

While it’s a nice gesture, the gift appears to be totally against the rules. The New York Daily News reports:

MLBPA regulations forbid agents from offering “any money, or any other thing of value” to players in order to persuade them to continue using their services. Agents can give gifts to players who are already their clients but the union must be notified in writing of any gift exceeding $500.

The paper reached out to Roc Nation Sports for a comment, but got no reply. Meanwhile, the MLBPA will neither confirm nor deny the launch of an official investigation.

What’s wrong with giving a gift to someone on their birthday, right?

But this won’t be the first time Jay hit a snag with a sports organization. Hov was fined $50,000 by the NBA back when he was an owner of the Brooklyn Nets, prompting him to rap, “What’s 50 grand to a motherf*cker like me, can you please remind me?”

Let’s hope the MLB doesn’t give him a reminder.

As for now, Jay doesn’t seem worried. He was just at the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit chilling with F1 racers and ish.

Boss!
