The year was 2000 and just about every single tween was obsessed with the young baby face boy known as Sammie singing “I Like It” off his debut album, From the Bottom to the Top. Sammie broke records only before touched by Marvin Gaye, stole the hearts of many, and then left the spotlight for a life of teenage normalcy, proms, sports and high school.

The year is now 2013, and Sammie has completed his transition into a 26-year-old man, better known as Leigh Bush, and he isn’t looking back. Armed with honed talent and experience many his age won’t obtain for years to come, Leigh Bush returned to the scene doing it his way as an independent artist.

With the release of his  Project EP, Leigh topped the iTunes top 10 charts as an independent artist in a matter of hours, so if you had any doubts about his appeal, think again.

We had the opportunity to kick it with the Florida native just a few hours before he hit the stage at SOB’s in New York City to talk a bit of fashion with Footaction and his stylist, and we also got to talk a little more about what this comeback means to him.

Now that’s a Throwback Thursday for that ass! Check out the full interview in the video above.
