So this happened.

Because 2013’s America isn’t yet sure how to refer to black people, TMZ decided to ask their audience which term was correct. The site poses the shocking question in a way that makes it clear they aren’t giving those in question a say on how they wanted to be addressed.

[insert argument here about the use of the n-word by black people that excludes white people, how unfair it is and how white people don’t understand what the big deal is].

TMZ posted the poll under a story detailing Suge Knight’s dissent against the term “African-American.”

Suge Knight is offended when people call him African American, because he’s NOT African.  On the other hand, he doesn’t have a problem with the word, “Ni**a.”

Suge says it’s offensive to label all Black people African American.  And he goes further … he thinks it’s ridiculous that only rappers can use the word, “Ni**a.”  He thinks if it can be used by some, it should be used by all.

At first his theory sounds a little shocking, but maybe he has a point.

So we gotta ask…

Actually, you don’t have to ask. But since they did, we decided to check out the results.

And what’s much more upsetting than TMZ posing a question this racist to an audience that we’ll safely assume isn’t majority black, are those results:

Oh. Thanks for finally clearing things up.
