Three children have been taken by Child Protective Services after their mothers – who are lesbians – allegedly starved and abused them in Northern California.

According to the Detroit Free Press, authorities discovered the children in the home on March 14th after the parents missed appointments, and even saw one of them chained to the floor.

There were two boys, ages 3 and 5, and one older girl, who was 8 years old and required hospitalization after being chained down.

County Sheriff Scott Miller said of the case:

‘It was a particularly heinous case,’ Miller told the Monterey Herald. The children had ‘hardly eaten for months’.

“When you’ve got over 30 years in the business, you’ve seen way too many of these types of things before,” he said. “But this is, in terms of child abuse and neglect, this is toward the top.”

‘It seems that the little girl was the major target of this abuse. The fact that it appears she was actually chained to the wall to keep her from eating, those are the kinds of facts that tear at you,” he said. “That’s the kind of thing that differentiates this from most other types of abuse cases.”

Miller also said that the girl reminded them of a “concentration camp victim”, and is said to be quite traumatized by the entire ordeal.

The two women, Eraca Dwan Craig and Christian Jessica Deana, were arrested for suspicion of felony child cruelty, false imprisonment, in additon to other charges. They’re currently being held on $50,000 bail.
