As the 20th anniversary of Nas’ critically acclaimed album, Illmatic, quickly approaches, the Queens emcee is gearing up for the premiere of his Time Is Illmatic documentary.
The One9-directed film will premiere on April 16 at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, but industry insiders who are attending Coachella will be able to catch a sneak peek of the film during Nas’ Coachella event on Sunday, April 13.
The two-minute trailer features footage of Nas’ father talking about his son’s ability to rhyme, and Nas’ longtime friends reminiscing about how the Illmatic was recorded.
The official 20th anniversary of Illmatic is April 19, but the anniversary edition of Illmatic XX will be released April 15.
