As the country remembered the Boston Marathon Bombings one year later, a man was arrested last night for planting fake bombs in the racing area.

According to Deadspin, Kayvon Edson was walking around the marathon’s finish line chanting “Boston Strong,” a saying the city adopted after last year’s tragic bombing, which killed three and injured 260. Wearing an all black get-up, the 25-year-old student raised suspicions after he left two backpacks near the finish line.

Law enforcement later arrested Edson when he admitted he had planted two bombs. A bomb squad was called in to detonate the packages. However, one contained a rice cooker filled with confetti, while the other was merely filled with photo equipment.

Following his bomb scare, an investigation of Edson’s social media activity has raised concerns. The art student reportedly suffers from mental illness, and previously posted memes praising Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on the social site Natural Selection. He’s also known for his wild performance art.

He also posted a picture on his Facebook page just a day before the hoax:

Edson has been charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, and possession of a hoax device.
