Yesterday, we reported that a producer who used to work with Jay Z was allegedly planning to extort him for $20 million over stolen master recordings made during the Roc-A-Fella Records years.

According to TMZ, the producer, Chauncey Mahan, is expected to face charges of extortion and grand larceny after attempting to strike a $100,000 “storage fee” deal for a set of master recordings that include masters for Jay’s Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter and The Dynasty: Roc La Familia albums.

Mahan spoke out against the charges, claiming that Def Jam told him to hold onto the recordings and that his previous attempts to give them back have been ignored by Jay Z’s camp for ten years.

Hov has not yet released a statement on the matter, but one of his greatest friends and collaborators during that time, Just Blaze, took to Twitter to address the situation himself:

This is getting real messy, and we’ll be keeping you posted throughout every development. Check back for more updates and get into Just Blaze and Hov’s collab with Baauer, “Higher,” here.
