Just yesterday, news broke that Naya Rivera was fired from Glee after getting into a dispute with both producers and the show’s star, Lea Michele.
According to new reports, Naya hasn’t been given the axe, but she won’t be part of Glee‘s fifth-season finale, either. Her future on the show is still up in the air, according to the folks at E!News.
Naya was supposed to appear on the finale, but they wrote her character Santana Lopez out of the last two episodes.
“Naya isn’t fired and her not being in the finale has nothing to do with Lea,” says one source who works on Glee. “I don’t know where these stories are coming from, but they are not true.”
Essentially, Big Sean’s ex-fiancee is on a long time out. A rep continues:
“We love Naya and want only the best for her,” says one insider who works on the show. “Hopefully we can work it out.”
“We all needed a moment,” the insider adds, saying that the break is “best for everyone.”
So while the rumors aren’t true, we’ll have to wait until the end of June to find out who makes the cast for next season, since that’s when producers will make the final decision. Stay tuned, Gleeks.
