An 11-year-old boy is dead after his uncle accidentally shot him while showing off his Glock 27’s laser on Saturday.

The boy, identified as Hunter Pedersen, was visiting his grandfather’s home in Delaware Township, Pa., when he asked his uncle, Chad Olm, to see his gun collection.

According to court papers, Olm was showing the pistol to the boys and pointed the laser on the ceiling and walls.

He then allegedly pointed the laser at his nephew’s forehead. Investigators believe Pedersen may have reached for the pistol before Olm pulled the trigger.

According to the Pocono Record:

The bullet struck the child in the forehead, above an eye. He began bleeding and fell over.

When police arrived, the child’s body was found on the floor of the bedroom and there was a single bullet hole in the corner of the room, near the ceiling. The gun was on the clothes washer in the laundry room.

The victim’s parents were not there at the time of the incident. They arrived after police.

Olm, 34, was charged with criminal homicide, recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of children. He could not post bail and remains in jail.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Hunter’s family at this time.
