The Daily Grind Video

Yeah, yeah, we know: summer doesn’t officially start until June 21st. But that doesn’t mean we don’t already know what the song of the summer is.

It’s “Fancy,” by Iggy Azalea, one of the more interesting characters in pop music.

Let’s reminisce about the last two songs of the summer real quick: there was Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” and Psy’s “Gangnam Style.” Those songs share the same qualities: catchy choruses, unique beats and standout videos. Oh, and there was some controversy involved. (Robin Thicke got heat for some rapey lyrics, while Psy got hit with the one-hit wonder label.)

The only song that really has all of these qualities is Iggy’s tune, which just hit number one on the Billboard charts this week. (What’s Iggy’s controversy? See Macklemore.)

Coming right behind “Fancy” is another Iggy banger: “Problem,” which stars Ariana Grande.

So those are penciled in as the top two, right? Cool.

Now let’s look at what else you’re going to be listening to whenever you turn on the radio.
