Columbus Short is learning his lesson the hard way.

The former Scandal star recently decided to skip an appearance in family court. In his absence, a judge ruled that Short’s estranged wife, Tanee McCall, should be awarded $17,005 a month in spousal support. To top it all off, the actor was also ordered to pay $4,542 a month in child support.

And it didn’t end there. Columbus was also forced to fork over $25,000 to cover Tanee’s legal bills.

Court isn’t the only thing Short’s been putting off. According to TMZ, the actor has yet to respond to his wife’s petition for divorce. The couple’s relationship took a turn for the worse a few months ago, after the actor was accused of abuse and making death threats against his wife.

Things have only gotten worse between the former couple since their initial domestic dispute.
