Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week brings designers from all over the world together to present their Fall/Winter 2014-2015 collections and remind us that even though we may think we’ve seen it all, we definitely haven’t.

Although it’s still summer, the cooler months are going to be sneaking up on us sooner than we may like to admit. So as a means to get prepared for what’s in store, we’ve put together a list of all the most important lessons we learned from Paris Fashion Week, including what we need to shop for if we’re going to keep up with the style of the upcoming seasons.

Check out the top five trends on the horizon.

1. Fall/Winter fashion is sheer genius…

Bundling up is so last year. Why cover yourself in scarfs and sweaters, when you can show the whole world what you’re working with in sheer fabrics? Designers such as Valentino and Loris Azzaro gave us some style incentive to head over to the gym, because even after beach season is over, our bikini bodies are still going to be visible.

2. Face masks aren’t just for Halloween.

Sometimes when you’re in a rush and you don’t have ample time to do your makeup, you wish you could just throw on a face mask and cover up for the day. Well, judging by the designs of Jean Paul GaultierMaison Martin Margiela, and On Aura Tout Vu, you can do just that.

3. Sparkle and shine.

Everyone has their own sparkle, and designer Zuhair Murad makes it easy for you to show it off. Some people prefer to stick to basic colors and patterns in the winter, but this year that’s going to change. And it’s definitely not a change we should be afraid of.

4. It’s OK to wear your heart on your sleeve.

Although sometimes it may be scary, all is fair in love and war…. And fashion. Designer Schiaparelli proved to us that it is actually extremely fashionable to wear your heart on your sleeve – literally.

5. Never mind orange, red is the new black.

While some people may still be catching up on OITNB, Viktor & Rolf has already moved on to red. This winter, make sure you keep a lot of red in your wardrobe so that even on the coldest days, you will still look red-hot.
