Common’s new LP, Nobody’s Smiling, is a great album, one where the legendary rapper hooks back up with longtime collaborator No I.D. However, one of the names missing from the album is Kanye West, who executive produced Be and Finding Forever.

So where is he?

Common talked to Sway about ‘Ye recently on MTV’s RapFix. Common confirmed that the two were still friends, but there was no more “business” relationship.

The Chicago O.G. said that when he was making Nobody’s Smiling, Kanye’s “focus was somewhere else” so he just locked in with No. I.D., who he’s known since the 4th grade.

This really shouldn’t be surprising to anyone since Kanye hasn’t appeared on a Common album since Universal Mind Control (’08) and he hasn’t produced for him since Finding Forever (’07).

Let’s hope we get another collabo one day. Check out Common talking about Kanye above.
