Who said today’s stars don’t use their voices for political change?

On Sunday during Jay Z’s set in the On The Run tour with wife Beyonce, the rap juggernaut seized the moment to let the audience at the Rose Bowl know he supports California’s Prop 47 — an initiative created to decimate the school to prison pipeline that has incarcerated a large percentage of inner city youth.

That initiative, also called The Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act of 2014, would reduce prison spending and increase investment into schools, mental health services and victim services.

With Jay’s classic hit “Hardknock Life” playing in the background, the rapper called for such a change:

“Prop 47! California! Build more school, less prisons. More schools, less prisons. They will never be able to stop us!”

Writer and friend of the rapper, dream hampton, posted the video above to Instagram.
