In the sorrowful wind of the shooting of teenager Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, Roc Nation artist J. Cole bears his soul on his record, “Be Free”.
“All we wanna do is take the chains off, all we wanna do is be free” Cole chants his voice cracks with pain and frustration.
Teetering on the edge of breaking down in the middle of his verses, J. Cole asks, “Can you tell me why every time I step outside I see my n*ggas die?”
The “Crooked Smile” rapper also inserted snippets of testimonies of young men witnessing their friends gunned down by police.
