Celebrities, they’re just like us. They put their pants on one leg at a time and aren’t afraid to douse themselves in ice for a good cause.
Countless celebrities have participated in the ice bucket challenge to help raise awareness for The ALS Association, a non-profit organization raising money and awareness for Lou Gehrig’s Disease. As of right now the Ice Bucket Challenge has helped raise over $10 million.
For those of you living under a rock, the ice bucket challenge is a viral campaign in which those chosen are given two options: film yourself pouring an ice cold bucket of water over your head or donate $100 to The ALS Association.
Since the campaign began, it’s spread like wildfire. Even celebs are in on the fun! Kevin Hart, Kerry Washington, Oprah Winfrey, Carmelo Anthony and many, many more have participated, sharing their videos on Instagram and various other social media outlets while also calling out other A-listers.
Funny-man Kevin Hart graciously accepted the ice bucket challenge, posting this hilarious video to his personal Instagram page. Kevin then called out NBA ballers Lebron James and Dwayne Wade as well as actress Gabrielle Union.
Carmelo Anthony’s Ice Bucket Challenge video was a two-parter, showing the star being iced in public. Anthony aimed big, calling out hip-pop heavy weights Nas and Jay Z as well as New York City mayor Bill DeBlasio, President Barack Obama and his wife LaLa Anthony.
Scandal star Kerry Washington was challenged by her boss Bob Iger and took on the challenge on behalf of herself and the entire cast of the hit series. She took both buckets like a champ and called out late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel.
Famous film maker Tyler Perry was nominated by country music star Tim McGraw; Perry did the challenge and decided to donate to the cause as well. He challenged news anchor Gayle King, Ben Affleck, the entire Atlanta Falcons football team and the legendary Oprah Winfrey.
Oprah accepted Perry’s challenge, uploading this video and calling out director Steven Spielberg, Helen Mirren and Daral Manish.
Actor Boris Kodjoe did the world and The ALS Foundation a favor and stripped down to get wet for the cause. Kodjoe called out former NFL superstar Michael Strahan, tennis pro Serena Williams and Nelly.
Texas Tech football coach Kliff Kingsbury gathered his team to take on the challenge as a family. You know what they say, everything’s bigger in Texas – including their Ice Bucket Challenge videos! Kingsbury and his squad pour buckets, threw water and even called in the big guns for some help with a hose. The team also went big when calling people out, challenging none other than Mrs. Beyonce Knowles.
Your move, B.
Other big names in Hollywood taking on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge include Robert Downey Jr., Chris Pratt, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift.
