Welp, Raven-Symone got impeached by #BlackTwitter today.

It wasn’t an easy decision, but after she told Oprah that she didn’t want to be labeled as “gay” or “African-American,” but rather be labeled as “just American,” #BlackTwitter had to throw her black ass in the 2014 race draft.

After a few cyber gasps and a couple “bishhh whets?” #BlackTwitter is finally getting over the initial shock of Raven’s interview, but that doesn’t mean the disappointment is over.

Oh no, honey!

#BlackTwitter doesn’t forget about anything, which is why we’re not going to let her sad and ignorant declaration go without a little sarcasm.

Of course, everyone is entitled to be perceived the way they wish to be perceived, but as a wise African-American woman once said (cough, cough, Kerry Washington):

“I’m not interested in sort of living in a world where my race is not apart of who I am. I’m interested in living in a world where our races, no matter what they are, don’t define our trajectory in life.”

BOOM!

Kerry, we couldn’t have said it any better.

Regardless of Raven’s decision to live without labels, there’s no denying that she is African-American and she’s gay, but she’s also an actress, a daughter, a businesswoman, and a girlfriend, among many other things.

All of these various “labels” make us all unique individuals. Do they define us? No, but they are who we are. Embrace it.

Check out all the times Raven-Symone was embracing African-American culture below.
