'Addicted' New York Premiere **NO DAILY MAIL SALES**

Regardless of what’s going on between Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey behind closed doors, publicly you’ll see no signs of pettiness from either superstar. And we like that.

As we all know, their marriage is going through a difficult time – the two are currently separated, and Nick was spotted with new ink that covers what once was his infamous “Mariah” tattoo, an homage to his soon-to-be ex-wife that spanned the entire width of his back.

Now, Nick is opening up about getting the tat covered, his separation from the multimillion dollar mama, and more. He also defends Mariah’s overseas singing, as she’s faced headlines that criticized her voice in recent weeks.

While attending the New York premiere of the highly anticipated film Addicted, Nick spoke exclusively to Extra’s AJ Calloway about all the drama in his life. As far as his marriage hitting rock bottom:

“I’m just taking everything one day at a time and just being the best person that I can possibly be at the end of the day,” he said.

Nick also revealed that his cover-up ink isn’t finished yet, and the paparazzi went out of their way to snag the photo:

“It’s not finished yet… It wasn’t supposed to be revealed yet… I didn’t know they were there, that’s how sneaky paparazzi are… I had just gotten it done, it was painful… It hurt a lot and I’m still not finished, I’m still probably like six more sessions away.”

And when it comes to Mariah’s voice, the Wild ‘N Out host had nothing but good things to say:

“I just wish her nothing but the best, we’re in contact constantly, you know you might have an off night here and there, but she’s one of the greatest performers and entertainers of all time, she’s not worried, we’re not worried, just going to keep pushing.”

Nick also dishes about Dem Babies, saying they “are doing amazing” and are currently overseas with Mariah on her Elusive Chanteuse World Tour. Maybe there’s still hope for these two… or maybe not. Just yesterday, Nick was spotted dining with a new lady friend in Tribeca.

One thing is for sure: Nick’s cover-up game is STRONG.
