It’s official: Taylor Swift’s new album 1989 sold 1.287 million copies in its first week of sales.
Industry experts predicted her album would only sell 650,000 copies in its first week – but boy, has she proven them wrong.
The “Shake It Off” pop star celebrated her record sales by posting a video on Instagram of her rapping Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle.”
We’d be jammin’ to Kendrick Lamar if our album went platinum too.
This is impressive, especially since Taylor is the only artist whose album sold over one million copies in 2014. The only other album to out-do Swift’s sales is the Frozen soundtrack, selling 3.5 million copies this year.
