They were the Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears for today’s tweens, and when Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez split, hearts shattered all over the world. However, since their breakup, the young couple has been on and off, sending mixed messages to all the Jelena fans in the world, and even drawing criticism from some.
In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on Thursday, the former Disney star opened up about her new single “The Heart Wants What It Wants,” in which she describes her tumultuous relationship with the “Baby” singer.
“I was 21, this year I turned 22. I was trying to figure what I’m doing and it was the first time that I was constantly being kicked down for doing that. I didn’t know. I just wanted to say ‘This is what I want, this is where I am,'” she said.
Everything was not all somber, however, Selena managed to lighten the mood a bit when she was asked what Justin thought about the video.
“He thought it was beautiful. I think it was hard at first,” she said. “I think he was jealous of the video guy at first,” she admitted jokingly.”
