Kaci Hickox, the nurse who fought quarantine orders in New Jersey and Maine after returning from a trip in West Africa, has made the decision to move.

According to the Huffington Post, she will be leaving Maine:

Kaci Hickox and her boyfriend, Ted Wilbur, plan to leave Maine after Nov. 10, or the expiration of the monitoring period for the virus’ 21-day incubation, according to the Press Herald newspaper. Wilbur did not say where the couple planned to move. “We’re going to try to get our lives back on track,” he told the newspaper on Friday.

Hickox publicly opposed the quarantine order after testing negative for Ebola, all the while the states were demanding strict restrictions on healthcare workers who’d helped out Ebola patients.

Meanwhile, 18,000 nurses in California are planning a 2-day strike on Tuesday, and it’s all because of how unprepared they feel in regard to dealing with Ebola. If the strike actually happens, it will affect a total of 21 hospitals and 65 clinics. Gawker reports:

A spokesperson for the nurses union said Thursday that Kaiser, “continued to stonewall on dozens of proposals to improve patient care standards, as well as refusing to address the concern of Kaiser RNs about Ebola safety protocols and protective equipment, refusing to even answer questions by the RNs.

Hopefully they can come to some sort of agreement… and quickly.
