The mother of Michael Brown Jr., the Ferguson, Mo. teenager gunned down by white police officer Darren Wilson, spoke out for the first time since a grand jury failed to indict the officer for killing her son on NBC’s TODAY show Wednesday morning.

In the interview, Lesley McSpadden appeared with Brown’s father, Michael Brown Sr., to discuss the decision and Wilson’s testimony of the Aug. 9 incident, which appeared in a grand jury transcript released this week.

When McSpadden was asked how she felt about Wilson’s claims, including his account that the teenager looked like a “demon,” she responded by saying the word added insult to injury.

McSpadden described the last 36 hours as “sleepless, very hard, heartbreaking and unbelievable.”

Brown Sr. said he had not watched Darren Wilson’s first interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos yet, but said his story sounded unbelievable.

“Who in their right mind would rush or charge at a police officer?” he asked. “It sounds crazy.”

In both his interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos and his testimony, Wilson claimed Brown charged at him, even running through the bullets he shot at the teenager. He also claimed the teenager tried to take his gun, although he admits in testimony Brown never reached for his holster.

Wilson also said he had a clear conscience about the whole thing, adding that he had to kill Brown because he feared for his life.

“I just did my job,” he said. “I did what I was paid to do and that was my job. I followed my training, the training took over, the training led me to what happened. I maintained the integrity of this investigation, and that’s it.”
